Our Founder

We would like to introduce you to Rogers Mayanja CEO and founder of Heavenly Blessings Orphanage. He is 29 years old and has dedicated his life to helping children who don’t have homes or parents to take care of them. This is his story…

I was once a street child because my father died in 1995. He left me with my mom who was not working, helpless yet I had to study. That’s when I started struggling, my mom tried her best. When I reach primary level 7 in school, I started paying school fees on myself. Around this time my mom was also died because of Aids in 2004. I started living on the streets looking for help with food, school fees. I had a church that was called Pentagon Christian church, I used to go and sleep there. I used to work some simple causal jobs at the church, one day I came across one compassionate person. His name is Mr. Kakooza Emmanuel. He started helping me and one day he adopted me and I became his son. He provided me with everything like his normal children.

Education, food, shelter, medical services, and clothes. There is also some bad news, Mr. Kakooza Emmanuel died. I was about to complete my diploma in Journalism and Media studies at Datamine Technical Institute but I didn’t graduate. I could not afford the tuition fees to complete my Diploma.

Because of the help, someone provided me I got inspired to help the kids who are helpless and orphaned. I started to gather street children in 2019. I started with 10 kids. I had a little money I saved which I used to start a
small business, selling boiled eggs along the streets with my kids. The money I was getting helped me to pay rent on the house, providing food. As time goes on, kids increase because of COVID-19.

Before Uganda was shut down due to Covid I was working in a stone quarry. I used the money to provide the most I could at the orphanage and some donations from good-hearted people from social media.
Our goal for the future is to help the 48 children who now call Heavenly Blessing Home. I want to provide our children with a safe home, provide them with food daily, and provide schooling to our children.
Now with 48 children to care for, I need to care for these children full time, and we depend on donations to support these children. If you feel inspired to help and want to donate to Heavenly Blessings please reach out me 🙏
